Funded in 1999, TNT Airways, one of the two airlines fully owned
by TNT, is based in Liege, Belgium, and has its offices close to
TNT Euro Hub processing all air freight consignments within
Europe and forming the link with the rest of the world.
TNT Airways is TNT Express’ network operating arm; its main
activity is to provide TNT Express with a safe, reliable and
cost effective air freight network connecting daily all TNT
Express locations throughout the world and more specifically in
Europe, through a fleet of more than 40 aircraft.
Its core activity allows the company to offer its fleet
resources and services to third parties such as ACMI contract to
airline, scheduled and unscheduled air cargo services, passenger
charters, including handling and maintenance services.
TNT Airways has a fleet of B747, A300, B737 and BAe146, which
forms an ideal mix of large, medium and small aircraft to meet
all requirements of TNT customers. Its entire fleet is currently
fully compliant with ICAO Annex 16 – Chapter III.
To capture growth in trade between China and Europe, TNT bought
two Boeing 747-400ERFs in 2006. The first one flies four times a
week, at near full capacity, from Shanghai to Liege, making a
stop in Singapore three times a week. Its second aircraft is
operated on behalf of Emirates. In addition Emirates requested
to take delivery of two additional B747 to expand synergies
between both airlines. Those two additional B747 (delivered in
2007) are mainly operated between Europe, Middle East and Far
East.
